Another ideation

This is just a rough of another idea that I had. Just from the feedback I got from my previous post, I decided incorporating both ideas into one poster. Instead of having literal graphics of a railway system like my previous idea had, I decided the printing press would be play that part. I wanted the idea of the steam power to be a focus here and how it was crucial for the modernization of the industrial revolution at that time. The printing press and steam engine had paved the way for technology of the era and how it modernized society. Feedback?

  1. Nice concept of combining the type and the train. we probably need a little more direct info to help support the connection. A pull quote from the book?

The duplication of the train doesn't really work, IMO. Just feels like a copy and paste. Also, didn't mention this before, but the train seems kind of short and wimpy. Industrial Revolution would make me think that the train is pulling lots of stuff, you know, the industrial part? ;)

Maybe one train with a string of boxcars behind it bleeding off the page?

The bottom train is riding on the rag. Kind of bumpy? Makes more sense to run on the clean edge as in the top.

What do the columns of text say? Hard to ell with this image, but it looks like it's from the book, which is good. I think it would be interesting if the test could be read in most places - another layer of information. Pay attention to the arrangement, orientation, order and legibility of the text columns.

How are you going to arrange the text columns? Think about balancing in the page, what kind of negative space/shapes are created, texture of the text blocks, size, leading, weight, etc.

Watch the leading in the title. It's off. 'Steam' seems to be floating away.

Color? At least use the cyan again, somewhere else. Another shade or tint of the cyan or the black?

    What's the grid here?
