Remember, this is a single web page. Nav on the left makes me think this a multi-page site? Don't make it so hard on yourself ;)
The overall feel - type, color, layout, spacing - is very good. A good start.
Breaking up the content into a grid structure is good and works with your theme. Maybe a more complex structure? Thinner column for text and more modules for images and other content? BG image, like you have in you poster, might add dimensionality and energy to the page. If you were to include just a few of the sections that you have listed in the navigation into a single page, you could make use of a more complex modular structure to organize the content.
