Xander's "Grotesk" Poster

I'm not sure if anyone will get it... but I fucking love it. Haha.

  1. Now I agree that you don't need to say much to introduce this concept, but a little more and deeper reflection would benefit us some and you a lot.

What do you mean if anyone will get it? It seems quite obvious - well at least to type geeks.

Yes. Great idea. Funny, clever, irreverent. Ironically gory and minimal at the same time. Horror and modernism.

The blood illustration/graphic is terrible. Nice start, but if this poster is going to work, that has to sing. It has to rock. Hard. Be gorgeous, glorious. Maybe one lone spot off to the side. Look exhaustively at illustrations of blood. Good comics might be good place to start. I have some that might have just the stuff (F. Miller's Electra, and Ashley Wood's Pop Bot). Don't google blood splatter (if you haven't already) - there's nothing there.

'grotesk' might be too large. I think that might be a quiet statement next to the vivid illustration.

What serif font are you starting with? The final result isn't correct. The thick and thin strokes are not very grotesk, yes? An interesting investigation - to find a serf font that other than the serifs, is basically the same as Aksidenz Grotesk, or the like.
