Project 2 Concept Map V 2.3

There is my latest ideation. The squares are grouped from left to right in a progression of what led to what in Modernism. For instance, Progressivism, Purpose and Politics led to Vienna Secession, Constructivism, and Dadaism. That's why the last three follow the first three. I also added a timeline to further illustrate that, although these terms aren't following a strict time progression, the terms on the left lead to the terms on the right. I also added lines from one box to another to show which terms influenced which other terms. The line color and weight are determined by the color of the box. For instance, the lines coming from the Purpose box are a lighter blue and thinner than the ones coming from the Swiss Style box.

  1. Very good. Much improved. What if… ;)

the connecting lines were color coded to show the different connections, that way when there are many overlapping we can discern what is happening. As it is now, it's just a jumble in the busy areas.

Watch the spacing inside the squares. I would give a slight margin inside. It feels cramped now and is a problem when the LC letters have a descender as in Advertising.

Watch the overlap of line and text in the timeline. Maybe the connecting lines could be a lighter stroke weight or a lighter tint?

Might be nice to bring in some of the cyan into the timeline? All the line work as cyan and the text as black, as in the graphics above?

What if the title box was in the upper left? Would stand out more and fill that space which is problematic.

  2. maybe have a little more uniformity in the text inside the boxes; the spacing on the left side where the text sometimes touches the edge of the box and sometimes does not
